FAQ’s

  • What is sea glass?

Sea glass is naturally weathered glass fragments that have been smoothed, frosted and rounded by years of tumbling in the sea, beach sand and currents. Originally starting its life as man-made glass such as discarded bottles, jars and glassware, they break into shards which the ocean gradually polishes into small, tactile pieces with soft edges and a frosted matte surface, prized for their muted colours such as common greens, browns and clear whites, with rarer blues, aquamarines and occasionally red.

All sea glass used by The Sea Glass Co. is genuine sea glass hand-collected from UK beaches. No two pieces are ever the same and so each piece of jewellery is completely unique.

  • What do you mean by ‘eco-conscious’?

At The Sea Glass Co., being eco-conscious means caring deeply for the environment - especially oceans and marine life - and making choices that protect and preserve the natural beauty that inspires every piece we create.

Our sea glass is found washed up on beaches, gently weathered and shaped by nature. We never collect live shells or disturb habitats - only ethically gathered pieces that have already completed their journey. We also use our beach trips as an opportunity to collect any litter we see, helping to keep our beaches clean!

We pair sea glass with recycled metal sterling silver and use eco-friendly packaging made from recycled, biodegradable, or reusable materials - because every detail matters.

Each item is handcrafted in small batches or made-to-order, minimizing waste and energy use. We avoid mass-production practices and unnecessary overstock, so your keepsake is as unique as the glass it came from..
